FETE
On the first Saturday of August, the parish holds its annual Fete. This event is the major fund raiser for the parish, with stalls offering cakes, craft, fresh produce, plants, small and large bric-a-brac, books, sweets, a large raffle, and food stall offering morning tea and lunch options, and the op shop is also open. Entertainment by visiting musicians keeps everyone in the mood for staying and enjoying the great hospitality.
ORCHID SHOW
An Orchid Show is held at the Boonah High School Hall on the third weekend of October as a fund-raiser for the parish. This Show is run in conjunction with the Queensland Orchid Society and local and visiting Orchid growers enter their blooms in the many judging sections in accordance with QOS event judging criteria. Prizes are allocated for individual ‘section’ winners, ‘class’ winners and ‘best in show’. Many ‘trade organisations’ are also part of the Show where people can purchase orchids and associated growing paraphernalia. The parish also hold a ‘market stall’ with craft and cooking available for purchase, and also run a refreshments bar offering delectable morning tea and lunch options. Covid prevented this event being held in 2020 and it may not be possible to hold it again until the situation becomes safe for large crowds to gather in close quarters.
